Ready to Burn firewood explained
Ready to Burn is a useful signal when buying logs, because moisture content has a huge effect on heat, smoke and stove performance.
Why moisture matters
Wet logs burn poorly. Instead of turning energy into useful heat, the fire has to drive water out of the wood. That means more smoke, less heat, dirtier glass and a less pleasant fire.
Dry logs should light more easily and burn more cleanly. For customers, this makes moisture information one of the most important details on a supplier listing.
What Ready to Burn tells you
Ready to Burn is intended to help customers identify wood that meets recognised moisture standards for domestic burning. When a supplier shows certification clearly, it gives buyers more confidence than a vague claim such as “seasoned logs”.
What it does not tell you
Certification does not answer every buying question. You still need to compare bag size, delivery charge, log length, wood type and customer reviews. A certified product can still be expensive or inconvenient if the delivery area is unclear.
Customer checklist
- Look for moisture content or Ready to Burn information.
- Check whether customers mention dry logs in Google reviews.
- Ask how the logs are delivered and whether they arrive covered.
- Store the logs correctly after delivery.
